

Our Shape class is a perfect blend of vinyasa yoga flow, resistance and/or weight training and light cardio to get the best of all training methods. Flows that are designed to coordinate with the music will activate and energize your body. This class is a slower pace to give students the opportunity to learn the basic postures and principles in order to create a strong foundation for one’s practice.

This non-heated course is a 4-week series which can be dropped into at any time. Level 2 moves at a quicker pace and will give you the opportunity to learn more advanced postures and inversions. This class is slightly more advanced and is built off of the foundation learned in an all levels class. Intro to heat takes what you learned in level 1, and incorporates a lower heat setting to ease you into practicing in the heat. Our intro to heat class will ease you into the heated classes with a temperature of 95 degrees. Each student works to his or her own ability and comfort. New students will develop body awareness, posture alignment, and core strength in basic poses, while experienced students are encouraged to explore advanced variation in familiar postures. Clear instruction is given in breathing technique, warm-up and posture flow. Students of all levels are invited to join this heated class, including all new students and especially anyone who has never been on a yoga mat. We ask that you please show up to class 15 minutes prior to the start time to ensure that you have time to set up your mat, check in, and get introduced to our facility. GABA is a neurotransmitter that helps to regulate brain activity. Gathered from an article out of The Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, yoga decreases anxiety by increasing GABA in the brain. This can directly improve concentration while studying if the yoga techniques are carried into real life. Because yoga combines fluid movements with breathing control and meditation, the exercise teaches one to focus on what’s happening in the moment-the breath-and ignore all other things that cannot serve them in that very moment. Yoga is very beneficial to the mind and can help students concentrate on studying. I’ve noticed a lot less soreness and that I’m able to sleep better. Instead of running and lifting weights, I practice yoga and feel refreshed after with my muscles are stretched out and my mind calmed. The different practices that one can do are fun and a good mental challenge.

As someone who hates working out, I love doing yoga. Yoga is a way to give yourself some time alone, while also getting in a good workout that does not feel like one. In order to destress from the demands of college and part-time jobs, yoga is a great way to relax your mind and body.
